Akron Ohio is located 45 minutes south of Cleveland Ohio. Before moving to the area, you might be weighing the pros and cons of living in Akron, Ohio. Depending on who you ask, Akron falls into the Cleveland area, however, locals do not consider Akron a suburb of Cleveland. Akron stands on its own and is the 5th largest city in Ohio with a population of nearly 200,000, and metro area includes over 700,000 residents. Home Prices

Homes prices in Akron vary A LOT! The average home cost in Akron is around $90,000. Like many Rust-Belt industrial areas, Akron was buffeted by the recession and the decline in the auto industry; unemployment jumped into double digits. This caused a lot of areas to become depressed while other areas thrived. Over the recent years, we've saw Akron slowly becoming the place it used it be, a thriving and successful city. 

 

The cheapest areas to buy a house in Akron is South Akron, East Akron, Kenmore, Middlebury, and North Hill. 

The most expensive areas to buy a house in Akron is Northwest Akron, Merriman Hills, Wallhaven, and Fairlawn Heights.

This is a difficult questions because it varies on location, like all big cities right? Quite a few of the inner city areas of Akron are economically challenged and the tendency of a higher crime rate comes along with that. It's because of crime that most people end up choosing the suburbs to reside in.

Akron Ohio Weather 

The best way to put it is, the weather in Akron is bipolar, especially in the spring. January is cold and really gray, but February is worse. February is when you see the coldest days of the year, sometimes dipping below 0 degrees! March is when the temperate start to warm up and when it hits 50 degrees, you'll see everyone wearing shorts and tee shirts acting like it's summer time. April is usually the bipolar month and it tends to rain, snow, and sleet all in the same month. May is the official start of summer, but June, July, August is when the temperate are the warmest with temperatures getting in the 90s. WARNING: Humidity in Ohio is high, especially near lake Erie. September and October is the best time of year in Northeast Ohio with temperates at a prefect 70 degrees! Leaves are beginning to change, the sky is blue, wind is crisp, ahhhh its perfect!! November and December is around 40 degrees and it usually doesn't snow this time of year, and if it does it usually doesn't stick.

In Conclusion, Who is Akron Right For?

Akron is a very diverse city, so it is arguably right for everyone. If you want to live ain a luxury neighborhood, then moving to north Akron or Fairlawn area might be your best bet. If you want to live in a nice affordable area, then Goodyear Heights and Firestone park might be perfoect for you.
